Hey everyone!
Welcome back to another Monster Menagerie, where we bring you unique creatures each week to enhance your Dungeons & Dragons campaigns.
Whether you're a new or experienced Dungeon Master, this week’s creature is perfect for adding tension, control, and unpredictability to your encounters.
This Week’s Monster: Beauty – Aberrant Observer
Floating silently through dark corridors and hidden chambers, Beauty, the Aberrant Observer, is a strange and unsettling entity that blends arcane magic with unnatural biology.
Designed for low-to-mid level D&D encounters, Beauty is less about raw damage… and more about disrupting your players at the worst possible moments.

Phil didn’t look comfortable around this one…
JC: “Phil… that thing is staring at me.”
Menagerie Handler – Phil: “That’s because it is. Beauty is always watching. It’s an aberration designed for observation… and elimination.”
JC: “It doesn’t look physically strong. Is it dangerous?”
MH – Phil: “Not in the traditional sense. Beauty isn’t here to overpower your party — it’s here to control them. Its Eye Beams can disorient, slow, or push targets out of position.”
JC: “So it’s more of a support or control enemy?”
MH – Phil: “Exactly. It thrives in encounters where it can sit back and manipulate the fight. Give it space, and it becomes a real problem.”
JC: “What’s the biggest threat it poses?”
MH – Phil: “Consistency. Every turn, it fires multiple Eye Beams. Over time, it chips away at your party’s effectiveness — disadvantage, reduced speed, forced movement… it all adds up.”
JC: “And it’s hard to catch?”
MH – Phil: “Very. It hovers, can’t be knocked prone while flying, and it’s always aware of its surroundings. It’s perfect for harassing players from hard-to-reach positions.”
JC: “Where would a Dungeon Master use something like this?”
MH – Phil: “Dungeons, towers, magical facilities — anywhere that needs a watchful guardian. It’s especially effective paired with stronger enemies.”

Encounter Tips for Dungeon Masters
