Watch dogs for the Cult of Quorenderi who are used in tracking and finding interlopers who might be hiding themselves through magical means, or are operating beyond the vision of the Awakened. Their true sight allows them to find even the invisible, and their dark nature and perception allows them to track the scent of their foes from miles away. Whilst they are not an ultimately formidable foe in a fight, they are dispensable, being mundane beasts that have undergone an easily repeatable ritual of transmogrification. Thus, they can be sent in waves, when needed.

They are otherwise used as scouts and trackers, more than combatants. Still, that does not mean that facing one alone would be an easy escape by an unseasoned adventurer, or even a seasoned one if the numbers are against them.
