Helping create an army theme or environment is as simple as adding a few bits of your choice to existing basing material paints, or by carefully sculpting and creating your environment and combining this with basing bits.
 
For best results, pick a "theme" of bits and add 1-2 pieces of each of your theme bits to your base.
